Honourable Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Minister for Foreign Affairs held a telephone conversation with His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt today. During the telephone conversation, the Honourable Foreign Minister expressed happiness at the Gaza deal struck between Israel and Hamas taking effect with the release of some hostages and humanitarian aid being transported into Gaza. The Honourable Foreign Minister commended Egypt for the pivotal role played, along with other countries, for securing the much awaited Gaza cease fire and hostage deal.
Appreciating the efforts so far made by Egypt for the release of Mr. Bipin Joshi, abducted by Hamas during the attack on 7 October 2023, she requested for the continued goodwill of the friendly Government of Egypt for placing Bipin's name in the second batch of the hostage to be released.
His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt towards the necessary efforts to be made in regards to the release of Mr. Joshi. The Egyptian Foreign Minister reassured that honouring the request of the Honourable Minister he will give specific instruction to the Egyptian negotiators.
Several other gamut of bilateral relations between Nepal and Egypt also featured in the conversation between the two Foreign Ministers.
The Foreign Minister is currently in Thailand on a private trip.
